College Course Descriptions

COL 121 Beginning Algebra (2 credit hours)
This is the first of a two-course sequence designed to refresh students' familiarity with basic algebraic topics (similar to a first year high school algebra course) including: operations and relationships in real number systems; solving and graphing linear as well as quadratic equations and inequalities; and factoring and operating on polynomials, radical expressions, and complex numbers.

It is expected that the students taking this course have been advised to do so as a result of placement test scores. Credits are not applicable toward the minimum credit requirement for graduation. The course is graded S/U.

COL 122 Intermediate Algebra (2 credit hours)
This is the second of a two-course sequence designed to refresh students' familiarity with intermediate algebraic topics (similar to a second year high school algebra course) including solving systems of equations, conics, relations and functions, rational expressions, and logarithmic functions.

It is expected that the students taking this course have been advised to do so as a result of placement test scores. Credits are not applicable toward the minimum credit requirement for graduation. The course is graded S/U.
