Certificate Programs

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers two different Certificate Programs in Computer Information Systems: a Network Option and a Database Option.

Certificate Program in Computer Information Systems: Network Option

Both networking in general, and the Internet in particular, have had increasing importance in the computing field over the past several years. This certificate program focuses on the role of networking and distributed systems in today's computing environments. It is designed to give the paricipant background in the design, implementation and administration of computer networks.

The Network Option of Computer Information Systems Certificate Program is nine college courses (25 semester hours credit) comprised of the following requirements. These course should be taken in sequence.

Mathematics

Computer Science

All but 10 credit hours must be completed at B-W.

The certificate requirements and course content may be altered by the department.

Certificate Program in Computer Information Systems: Database Option

Information management is key to every organization. The computer revolution has increased the need for skilled professionals who understand information systems and how they can best be utilized to meet organizational objectives. This program is designed to prepare the paricipant for an entry level position as a programmer/analyst in the Informations Systems Department of an organization. The curriculum focuses on the information needs of organizations and the tools frequently used by programmers to meet these needs.

The Database Option of Computer Information Systems Certificate Program is eight college courses (23 semester hours credit) comprised of the following requirements. These course should be taken in sequence.

Computer Science
