This tombstone is in the south-west corner of the cemetery, in the area identified as the "Stranger's Lot." Berea did not record his burial, but the stone was recorded in both the 1904 and 1934 surveys. The 1904 survey reads: "Friedrich Bosert, died June 4, 1879, age 34 years, 2 mo." The 1934 survey reads: "Bosert Fredrich, died June 4, 1879 age 84 years, 2 m." He was age 34 or 84 years and 2 months at death--the stone is decayed and the date of birth was even then hard to read--1795 or 1845. The stone, an upright obelisk, is still extant, although gray and covered with lichens. An urn, now missing, was probably affixed to the top. The 2007 survey transcribed the stone as follows: "FRIDRICH BOSERT * Best[?] 4 June 1878 [...] …34 Juhr[?] 2 Mon. Ruh[t] …anft in Friede..." No census or other information was found for this person. A Frederick Bosert is enumerated in the 1850 Federal US Census in New York, however the date of birth does not match any of the two death ages.
