| This sandstone tombstone is in the supposed "Stranger's Lot," in an area where there are some burials from the late 1890s. The inscription was recorded in 1904 as "Baby -- R.F.T. ae 5 mo. 11 da." It was not recorded in 1934. In 2007, the inscription read "BABY" across the curved top of the sandstone marker, and "R. F. T. Ageā¦" Only guesses can be made as to the infant's identity or correlating entries on Berea's list of burials. For example, one entry on the burial list says "1896 Taylor child lot at lower end." This is the "lower end" of the cemetery, without lot numbers, and other entries made at this time listed the lot numbers if such existed. The style of tombstone is also appropriate for an 1896 burial. But as nothing else is known about the Taylor child (obituary still unlocated), we cannot draw any firm conclusions. Possibly the same as entry 488. |
