Possibly born to the family of Gottlieb and Kathrina Buhrer, who appear in the 1880 census in Berea. They have three children, one living named John (3 years old). A tombstone was recorded in 1904 with the inscription "John Buhrer b. Feb. 6, 1875, d. March 11, 1875." Berea also lists the burial of a "Buhrer child" in March 1873, but none in 1875. Possibly the date was read wrong from the tombstone, or possibly the Buhrers lost two children. The only mention of a child death in the local papers in March of those years is John Crawford's infant. There is no obvious lot purchase, and the grave marker was not recorded on the 1934 inscription list. Was the baby exhumed? There are Buhrer burials in Woodvale: a marker for a mother Buhrer 1852-1894 and a father 1851-1883. There is also a child John Buhrer burial in Woodvale, but the dates are Mar. 15, 1878 - Jun. 2, 1881…probably the John Buhrer enumerated in the 1880 census. Probably the same as entry 318.
