comments
Newton A. Clark was 1 year and 5 months old at death. He was one of 3 brothers born to Mitchell and Mary Clark, all of whom died before age 5. Berea gives the date of burial as 4 February 1860.**This is probably a misprint for 4 March 1860.** He was one of 3 brothers, all of whom died before age 5. The 1904 Inscriptions from the Old Village Cemetery states, "Menton [sic](Newton)A., son of M.D. and M.E. Clark, d. March 3, 1860, ae 1 yr, 5 mo." For more information, see entries for Mitchell Clark (#31) and Mary E. Hulet (#106), especially the obituary, which says he and his brother Newton were stricken on the same day with black diptheria and were buried in the same coffin.
