comments
City records for 1861 say "Apr. 8 David Crawford [age] 22" Inscription on R2 G5 was already damaged in 1904, and possibly was transcribed incorrectly by Loomis and Gould: "David Crawford, died Apr 18, 1861, ae 37 (or 87)" also above him on same stone "Hon. Thomas Crawford, died Sep 1857, ae 80 [21] yrs" and below "Agnes dau of…died Sep 20[?]" Name David Crawford also appears above the name Margaret Crawford on G5. Information on stones is too fragmentary to locate David or Agnes in the census. There is no obvious David Crawford in the 1860 census. David was born on September 27,1837 in Scotland to George Crawford and Margaret Fairly. He arrived to New York from Liverpool on the ship Empire on July 17, 1857. He died on April 7, 1861.
