comments
The city's "list" for 1857 reads: "Sept 23 Mary A. child of Geo. Deming [age] 1 [yr] 10 m." She followed her father in death by 7 months. The 1904 transcription reads: "Geo. Deming b. Apr 7, 1824, d. Jan. 20 1857, Mary Abigail, b. Oct. 26, 1855, d. Sept 21, 1857, Origen Leon, b. Dec 26, 1852, d. Oct 10, 1853, children of Geo. and Mary J. Deming" The 1934 transcription read only "George Deming, died Apr 7, 1821, age…(stone down and covered by blackberry vine)" Her death occurred too early to be mentioned in newspapers. Her mother remarried to William Scrivens in 1858 and had another daughter, Cora Scrivens, in 1866, then died in 1867 and was buried next to George Deming and her children (R7 G8, lot 17).
