| Henry's parents were among the first settlers of Middleburg Twp. Betsey Fairchild is remembered as one of the "pioneering women" of the area (Shaw 30). Daniel Fairchild made wooden dishes which were used by many of the early settlers (John Baldwin and Hoadley accounts, in Shaw). He married Eliza Barnhart on 21 October 1847 (Henry A Fairchild--Eliza Barnhart marriage license, Cuyahoga County Library Fairview branch, book 4, p. 427, page match 3). They had no children (Labaj). There are no deeds in his name in Cuyahoga County. Henry's stone was transcribed in 1904 as saying "H.A Fairchild, died Dec 19, 1849, age 24 yrs, 9m". A 1934 transcription read "H.A Fairchild, died Oct 10, 1840, age 24 yrs, 9 m" Henry's stone was in 2007 one of only three (of eight) Fairchild stones still standing, although all three were broken and repaired so that only part of the inscriptions remain. age 24 years, 9 months at death WRHS:"died 10/10/1840" |
