R18 G3 stone is broken at base. Appears to have been a grayish white marble tablet stone. Gray granite lot marker "W 52" leans loose against the stone, probably from lot 52. There are two burial scars observable on the lot. The second is an unmarked grave slightly to the north of hers.
relations
Emmons J. Godfrey (husband)

comments
She was born Elizabeth Raymond on 29 April 1837 (Labaj). She married Emmons Godfrey on 9 April 1858 in Cuyahoga Cty (Labaj). Their marriage license is odd (there is one for Emons Godfrey-Christina Hoerr and one for Elizabeth Raymond--Willis N Graves, it looks like a mistake was made in recording the marriages; cf Labaj). No deeds in the name of Emmons Godfrey in Cuyahoga Cty. Berea's record of burials includes her name in 1864 "Feb. 28 Elizabeth wife of E. Godfrey--burned [age] 23 [yrs] 9m. 28d." In 1904, a transcription was taken of her tombstone, which said "Elizabeth, wife of Emmons J Godfrey, died Feb 26, 1861, age 23 yrs, 9m, 27 d" The year is likely a mistake. There is no Godfrey stone in the 1934 transcriptions. E. J. Godfrey bought lot 49. A displaced lot marker "W" leans against her stone. Www.findagrave.com lists no other possible locations for her grave; it seems unlikely she was exhumed. No census records for Emmons Godfrey or any obvious variant of the name in Ohio; there is an Emmons J. Godfrey in the 1900 census in Willow Creek, Nebraska. Age 64, b. Apr 1836 in Ohio, he lists his marital status as married 35 yrs [Elizabeth would have died 36 years previously], 0 children, he is a boarder who lists his occupation as "Magnetic healer." He can read, write, and speak English. In 1910, he is enumerated in Warren Twp, Iowa, age 74, with wife Avigan E, age 65. Both list it as their second marriage, with no children.
