Little has been found about Irma. A death notice appeared in the local newspaper, the Grindstone Advertiser, on 9 August 1877: "A child of Prof. Berr of German Wallace College, died yesterday about noon. The funeral will be attended this afternoon at 4 o’clock." Berea's list of burials for 1877 says "Aug. 8 Thursnelda Berr". Lot 183 1/2 was purchased by Julia Berr, but a ground-penetrating radar scan found that this lot is empty (although it could be displaced to R6 Gd or c). A tombstone for Irma Thurswelda Berr was recorded in the 1904 survey of inscriptions: "Berr, Irma Thurswelda, b. June 14, 1876 d. Jan 8, 1877." However, the stone was gone or lost by the 1934 survey. Notes for further research: search Ancestry.com census for parents and BW college records for professors' names J. O. and Julia Berr are buried in Woodvale Cemetery, sec. 6, suggesting possibility of her exhumation, but there is no stone or inscription for "Irma Thurswelda" with them. The family was enumerated in Berea in the 1880 census: Julius Berr was 35, a professor of music, born in Prussia of parents from Prussia. Wife Louise was 34, also from Prussia of parents from Prussia, children were Gustav, age 10, attending school, Heidwig, age 6, attending school, and Oswin (Oswill?), age 2. A brother, Gustav, age 28, a weaver, was also living with the family. All three children were born in Ohio. Irma would have been 14, had she lived. Julius O. Berr died 4 June 1914 in Cuyahoga County (State of Ohio Death Record). Entry is the same as no. 384 The family was enumerated in Berea in the 1900 Federal US Census. Julius was listed as Head of the family. He was born in July of 1844, listed as 55 years old, married for 34 years old, he was born in Germany as were his parents. He immigrated to the United States in 1867 and was in his 33rd year of residence in the country. His profession was listed as Prof German Wallace College. He could read, write and speak in English. He rented his house. Wife Louise A. was born in March 1845, was 55 years old, married for 34 years, had given birth to nine children and had six still living. She was born, along with her parents, in Germany. She immigrated in 1867 and had been living in the United States for 33 years. She was able to read, write, and speak English. Son Oswin J. was born in July 1878, was 21 years old, single, and born in Ohio. Both of his parents were born in Germany. His profession was Shipping Clerk and he was able to read, write, and speak in English. Son Alfred H was born in March 1881, was 19 years old, single and born in Ohio. Both of his parents were born in Germany. His occupation was listed as student. He had been attending school for 9 months that year and was able to read, write, and speak English. Son Rudolf R. and Daughter Anita were born in September 1884 and October 1886. Rudolf was 15 and Anita was 13 years old. The rest of their information is the same as Alfred.
